Who Thrives at The College School
TCS is especially powerful for curious, capable children who thrive when learning is active, meaningful and connected to the real world—and for families who want school to develop not only what their child knows, but who they are becoming.
We give children safe opportunities to take risks, make mistakes, and discover what they’re capable of.
“TCS has far exceeded my expectations in providing an education for my children. While there are more hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, it’s the way my children are taught to view the world that leaves the deepest impression. My children have learned more than just academics. They’ve learned life skills that they’ll carry with them well into adulthood.”

Big ideas. Small businesses. Lots of learning!
Our Third Graders put their entrepreneurial skills to the test during Market Day, a much-anticipated experience that`s part of their larger Community theme.
From dreaming up products and original games to determining prices, developing marketing strategies, managing inventory, calculating sales tax, making change, and tracking profits, students experienced firsthand what it takes to run a business.
Market Day is a wonderful example of how learning comes together at The College School, where academic skills have real-world purpose and our students have opportunities to put their ideas into action.
What does it mean to understand our impact on the planet? Sometimes, you have to get out and see it for yourself.
Our seventh graders recently completed their five-day, four-night Environmental Cycles expedition, an immersive extension of their trimester theme that challenges students to think critically about the relationship between humans and the natural world.
From exploring ecosystems and visiting sites like Weldon Spring, where the legacy of environmental contamination and ongoing restoration raises important questions about the impact we leave behind, students confronted real issues surrounding pollution, sustainability, and our responsibility to the places we inhabit.
And they did it all on two wheels. Five days of physical challenge (over 100 miles biked by each student!), shared responsibility, problem-solving, and perseverance, with plenty of moments to appreciate the world they were studying.
This is experiential education with purpose: connecting classroom learning to real places, real challenges, and the understanding that our choices have lasting consequences.
Track or Treat is coming up! Join us Friday, October 23, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. for an evening of costumes, candy, and family fun.
We still need families to host decorated tables, so please consider joining in! Tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We can’t wait to see you there!
