Welcome to our Parent and Alumni Connections!

We understand that choosing a school can feel challenging at times, with many questions to consider. That’s why we’ve created a forum where prospective parents can connect directly with our current parents, alumni parents, and alumni. Whether you’re curious about our school, seeking advice, or simply want to hear firsthand experiences, our ambassadors are here to answer your questions. Feel free to browse the individuals and families who are available to connect with you below. We hope to hear from you soon!

Tina and Mike

Parents of Second Grade Student

Interests:

Our family enjoys camping, hiking, raising chickens, traveling, playing collaborative games, hanging out with friends, and eating good food!

About us:

Julian has been at TCS since preschool and is now in the second grade. As a family that appreciates the outdoors, we initially joined TCS because of its experiential learning model and immersive experiences in nature. As we’ve become more immersed in the community, we’ve come to see that TCS offers even more than we anticipated, including individualized attention to giving Julian what he needs, both emotionally and academically, as he transitions from one grade to the next.

Priscilla

Parent of Fourth Grade Student

Interests:

My daughter, Presley, is a competitive cheerleader so we spend many weekends traveling for competition! She also enjoys traveling, swim, dancing, makeup, designing, making videos, reading, and hanging with her friends and family.

About us:

We are STL City residents who transferred to TCS at the beginning of third grade. I have always been fond of learning through real-world experiences and TCS intentionally provides that type of learning environment and more. It has been an amazing transition and the entire school community has been welcoming and so supportive.

John

Parent of First Grade Student

Interests:

Sadie is very interested in art, building things, Pokemon, pretend, learning magic tricks, and traveling. She is also an excellent cat mom, and loves all things cat related.

About us:

I am a lifelong special educator, jazz musician, and woodworker. We chose TCS in Preschool for our daughter, Sadie, because of their child-centered, inquiry-based approach to learning. TCS has unlocked the formula of natural learning, and spread it all over the school. I am more than happy to discuss the school’s approach to teaching and learning and how it has opened doors for Sadie that a traditional education would otherwise have left closed.

Kathy and Jody

Parents of TCS Alumni Class of 2021

Interests:

Our kids love traveling, hiking, e-biking, spending time with friends, golfing, gaming, attending sporting events and hanging with our dog, Milo.

About us:

We are proud moms of two wonderful children adopted from Guatemala—Emma and Ethan. They spent 11 formative years at TCS, each with their own unique learning style, yet both flourished in their own ways. The nurturing environment and love of learning they developed at TCS laid a strong foundation for success at Nerinx Hall and CBC High School. We’re thrilled to share that Emma will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to pursue pre-med, while Ethan is heading to Saint Louis University to study Geospatial Analytics.

Denise

Parent of Third and Seventh Grade Students

Interests:

As a family, we like to play games, with our favorites being Root and Stardew Valley. Both of our daughters like dancing, acting, music, and art, but love their cats and dogs more than anything else.

About us:

We’ve been part of the TCS community since 2016. We always appreciated how all the teachers and faculty all seemed to know our children even at the preschool level, creating a strong sense of community. For parents of preschoolers, it was a huge comfort for us to know that more than just the grade level teachers were looking out for our children. Now that our children are older (grades 3 and 7), that feeling of community means just as much as it did in the beginning. The teachers at TCS are invested in the success of our children, rooting them on right along with us.

Tammy

Alumni, Class of 1999

Interests:

I love adventuring outdoors, spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, crafting, gardening, and attending live theater and music.

About me:

I attended TCS from preschool through 8th grade in the 1990s and rejoined the community in 2024 as a member of the Board of Trustees. In between, I graduated from Lutheran High School South and the University of Missouri–Columbia, where I earned a Bachelor of Journalism in Media Convergence. My career evolved into web development, where I enjoy applying both creativity and logic to problem-solving every day. I’ve carried the school’s “learning by doing” approach with me through every step of my life. I attribute my experience as a TCS student for instilling in me a love of learning, curiosity, and confidence to take on any challenge.
