Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Belief Statement

At The College School, we recognize that diverse experiences, identities, and perspectives are fundamental to academic excellence and preparation for life in a global society. We honor the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals and are committed to building a foundation of respect, collaboration, equity, inclusion, and justice for our students, faculty, staff, and community. We strive to partner with our students and stakeholders in promoting freedom from oppression for all through thoughts, words, and actions.

School-Wide Read Aloud

Our entire school community came together for a powerful assembly centered on Amanda Gorman’s Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem. After a shared read-aloud, students reflected on how they can be the change they wish to see—through compassion, action, and community.

Leading up to the event, students:

– Explored themes of social justice, empathy, and activism in the classroom
– Reflected on what it means to make a difference—both big and small
– Engaged in meaningful conversations about shared responsibility and hope
– Celebrated the power of words, identity, and collective change

GSA Club

The College School has it own Gender/Sexuality Alliance – a place where young folks with questions and emerging identities can not only learn about themselves but also how to support others in the LGBTQIA+ community.

How to Be an Antiracist Book Study

Faculty and Staff at The College School engaged in a multi-week book study of Ibram X. Kendi’s How to Be an Antiracist, a text that examines the many forms of racism while providing tangible strategies to root it out. Learn more about the book here.

Every child has a voice, and we work everyday to make sure that voice is heard and respected.

Our equity and inclusion mission statement serves as a touchstone to all of our efforts in curriculum, service, social-emotional learning, admissions, student and family support, and interaction with the larger St. Louis community. We look forward to partnering with you!
