Recently, The College School was one of nine St. Louis-area schools featured on the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Strides Tour as part of their recognition of Green Ribbon schools. The federal program recognizes schools that reduce environmental impact and costs, improve health and wellness, as well as provide effective environmental and sustainability education. Green-ribbon status is not a certification or grant program, but rather a way to spotlight good work in the hope that other schools will be inspired to take on sustainable projects.
During the Green Strides tour, College School students shared with visitors information about the school’s Greenhouse, Wind Turbine, solar panels and permeable pavers, amongst other sustainable features and projects. Read the U.S. Department of Education’s recap of the Green Strides tour.
