John Colbert has been working at The College School since 2001. After serving as Technology Coordinator for five years, John made the transition to teaching full-time as a member of the Middle School faculty. He teaches Math, the Wilderness Experience, the Eighth Grade Capstone “Now What?” and a variety of exploratory courses. At The College School, John has found a venue for sharing his love of mathematics, the environment and continued exploration and learning. John holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Brown University. He worked for many years in the fields of adventure and environmental education, living and teaching in a variety of locations ranging from Big Bend National Park in southwest Texas to northern Minnesota. John has enjoyed expanding his exploration overseas, spending time in Senegal, Brazil and Cuba. John’s passions outside of school include enjoying the diversity of the community in his city neighborhood and the peaceful calm of hikes in the woods. John’s daughter is now a student at The College School; it is his great pleasure to enjoy the school he so loves through the eyes of a parent and to share it with his family.
