8th Grade Graduation

It's graduation day, and you're wondering what has happened to those blue-jeaned kids who used to tread these halls.  Because what you see on the stage are composed young men and women, describing, one by one, what their years at The College School have meant to them.

  • "Not only have I learned to recognize my fears, I've learned to dance with them."
  • "Life is about taking chances, managing risks and reflecting on what you've gained from an experience."
  • "From TCS, I take an aware-ness that I affect everything around me, like a ripple on a still lake."
  • "TCS will always be a big part of my life because I am a reflection of what you have taught me. I hope I can always make you proud."
  • "In a way, I want to curl up and stay in this protective world. But the adventurous spirit inside me - that TCS has created - wants to leap out and explore everything."

On graduation night, our departing eighth-graders speak so eloquently, through laughter and through tears. And if you've attended past graduation ceremonies, you know not to fight the lump in your throat. After all, you've come to expect it.

The graduation ceremony at The College School is one of our dearest traditions, and we expect we'll continue it forever. And while we value all our traditions, we know that we must also grow and evolve. Our students have the right to expect that of us.
