Admissions Timeline
Below is our general timeline for the application process. Please always feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to meeting you!
Year-Round
SCHOOL TOURS: Please contact Adrienne Rusbarsky, Director of Admissions, any time of the year to receive a personal tour of The College School. The tour provides a good overall view of our school. During peak admissions months, from October though January, we offer personal as well as a sequence of group tours (Admissions Coffees) on designated Friday mornings to enable us to accommodate the many requests we receive.
September - Early February
FALL OPEN HOUSE: Saturday, November 3, 9 AM to Noon. Stop by the school during Open House to see classrooms and meet teachers, parents, administrators and students at The College School. The best part of Open House is that it's a high access event...you can speak to many people in the community who can answer your questions personally. No RSVP needed.
WINTER CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL OPEN HOUSE FOR AGES 2-8: Saturday, January 12, 2013, 10 AM-Noon: This event is designed to entertain children ages 2-8 and help prospective parents more directly engage in the school environment. Children have the opportunity to explore a number of "activity stations" in different spaces around the school, such as the teaching kitchen, greenhouse, etc. The event concludes with a delightful play for all to enjoy in our Theater. No RSVP needed.
ADMISSIONS COFFEES: 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on 10/19, 10/26, 11/9, 12/14, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, and 2/8. We gather in our Commons space for an information session plus a tour of the school. Please RSVP to 314-962-9355, ext. 111 or admissions@thecollegeschool.org for one of our Coffees. Check our Admissions Calendar for the next coffee date.
PERSONAL TOURS: Personal tours are accommodated upon request. Please contact Adrienne at 314-962-9355, ext. 111 or admissions@thecollegeschool.org to schedule a date and time. Typically, personal tours are given on weekday mornings.
February
APPLICATION DEADLINE: The main cycle application deadline for the 2013-14 school year is Friday, February 8, 2013. We can accept some late applications as part of the main admissions cycle. Please call or e-mail if you need more time to submit your application. After the main cycle, we move to rolling admissions for the upcoming school year.
FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE: The priority deadline for financial aid applications is the end of February. Financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. We continue to accept financial aid applications beyond this deadline until all funds are allocated. If you have any questions, please contact Kelcie Bartley, Diversity Coordinator, at 314-962-9355, ext. 129 or kbartley@thecollegeschool.org or Marc Langhauser, Business Manager, at 314-962-9355, ext. 116 or mlang@thecollegeschool.org.
January-Early March
Applicants visit in classrooms. Preschool, kindergarten and first grade applicants visit for an hour in a small group with classroom teachers on a weekday afternoon in February or early March. Second through eighth grade applicants visit for a full school day in their current grade. Middle School applicants meet with a core Middle School teacher during their visit day for an informal conversational interview.
Mid-March
First round of decision letters mailed
Early-April
First round of enrollment decisions due
March-August
Although our official deadline has passed, we continue to accept applications year-round for classrooms that have openings. In a typical admissions year, some classes fill in April, but some do not. In addition, because of employment changes or other circumstances, openings do occur through August.
Mid-Year Applicants
Each year, we do accept a small number of mid-year applicants on a space-available basis. In all grades, we're seeking students who are a good fit with our program. Please contact Adrienne Rusbarsky, Director of Admissions, at 314-962-9355, ext. 111 or admissions@thecollegeschool.org if you're interested in applying or just want additional information.
